Acrylic plastic sheets are available in two different grades: extruded (XT) and cast (GS). The difference between these two sheets is due to two different manufacturing processes.
With (XT) acrylic sheets, the liquid material is extruded (pressed) into a sheet. This makes the manufacturing process more efficient and therefore faster. This makes (XT) acrylic sheets cheaper. The disadvantage is that the extrusion gives the (XT) acrylic sheet a higher internal material stress. This makes (XT) acrylic sheets less suitable for self-processing, as (XT) acrylic sheets are more likely to crack or break.
Cast acrylic sheets are poured into a mould during production. This produces a cast (GS) acrylic sheet, which is without internal material stresses. Consequently, this grade is very suitable for self-machining and therefore hardly splinters or cracks in contrast to extruded (XT) acrylic sheets.

Acrylic sheets are very easy to assemble, for example with screws. If you want to join acrylic sheets together, we recommend using a special adhesive such as Acrifix acrylic adhesive. This adhesive makes the two sheets fuse together, so to speak. A standard adhesive will not work for joining acrylic sheets.

Acrylic sheets are very easy to maintain. We recommend keeping acrylic sheets clean with an antistatic cleaner and a soft cloth. Never use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning, and do not use coarse brushes or scouring pads. This could dull the surface of the sheet. It is possible that a scratch may appear on your sheet. In this case, you can always polish acrylic sheets with a special polishing agent.
