Q: What is the difference between cast and extruded white acrylic?

Cast acrylic (GS) contains less internal stress and is therefore the better option when the sheet needs to be drilled, sawn or milled. Extruded acrylic (XT) is a more economical option but requires greater care when machining because it is more prone to cracking.

Q: Is white acrylic opaque?

Standard white acrylic allows a small amount of light to pass through, so it is not completely opaque.

Q: Can white acrylic sheets be used outside?

Yes. White acrylic is UV, moisture and weather resistant, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Q: What is brilliant white acrylic?

Brilliant white acrylic is a densely coloured cast acrylic designed particularly for mounting against walls. Its greater opacity helps prevent adhesive, joints and the wall surface behind it from showing through, making it suitable for applications such as kitchen splashbacks and bathroom panels.

Q: How do you clean white acrylic sheets?

Use a soft microfibre cloth with lukewarm water and a mild cleaning product. Avoid abrasive sponges, brushes and harsh cleaning agents because acrylic is susceptible to scratching.

Types of white acrylic

Our white acrylic sheets are available in 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm and 10mm thicknesses, depending on the type of acrylic you choose.

Thinner sheets are useful where lower weight and some flexibility are beneficial, while thicker sheets provide greater rigidity. If you're unsure which thickness is suitable for your project, use our thickness calculator above to help choose the right sheet.

Processing options

In our shop, you will find two types of acrylic: cast acrylic and budget (extruded) acrylic. Our white cast acrylic sheets can be processed just as well as any other cast acrylic sheet. So you can machine these sheets perfectly well by drilling, sawing and milling. We also offer budget extruded acrylic, but due to the high stress created in the manufacturing process of these white sheets, they are less suitable for machining.

Maintenance of white acrylic

Clean your acrylic sheets with a mild household cleaner in combination with a soft microfibre cloth. Beware using harsh cleaning agents such as Cif, or sponges and brushes. Due to the scratch sensitivity of the material, small scratches will appear on the sheets, and will become dull.

Applications of white acrylic

Our white acrylic sheets are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, because of the board’s UV resistance. Think of advertising signs or a customised canopy over a door. White acrylic is also widely used in interiors and stand construction.

Sanitary white acrylic is specially developed for applications where the sheet is mounted against a wall. Think of a kitchen splashback, or shower wall. These are great options for replacing tiles or a glass wall.
