Polyethylene (PE) sheets

Cut to size
In our range we offer a variety of affordable polyethylene sheets. Polyethylene is also known as HDPE, PE or polyethylene sheets. We stock several sheet thicknesses, from 3 till 20 millimetres thick. Polyethylene is a material that is beloved in the machine construction industry. The tough material is easy to work with, and any sawing, drilling and milling can be accomplished without a problem. Polyethylene is suitable for a variety of applications: from fine mechanical parts to large covers. The maximum available sheets size is 200 by 100 centimetres. This engineering plastic can be cut to your required size and will be ready for shipment as soon as possible.

Everything you need to know about polyethylene

Polyethylene is the most widely used plastic in the world. Worldwide, 80 million tons of this material is produced annually. These sheets are popular in mechanical engineering for their properties of lightness and strength. In addition, it is easy to process, resistant to point loads and does not tear.

Designations of polyethylene

Polyethylene is also known as polyethene or HDPE.

Applications of polyethylene

You often encounter polyethylene in seals and packaging materials, such as plastic bags, bottles and foil. In addition, you will often find these sheets in equipment and machine construction.

Variants and colours

Our polyethylene sheets are available in black, in thicknesses from 3 to 20 millimetres. The maximum area that you can order in our webshop is 200 x 100 cm. Do you need a sheet in a customised format? Let us cut the polyethene PE sheet to size for you.

Processing options

Polyethylene is very stable dimensionally and can be sawed, milled, turned, bent, drilled and welded successfully. However, we do not recommend glueing unless you specialise in this. The low melting point makes it easy to mould, pour and recycle.

Properties of polyethylene

Polyethylene has high tensile strength, is very tough and is resistant to elongation and high point loads. Thanks to these powerful properties of polyethylene, this sheet material will not break during processing. In addition, this maintenance-free material has very good chemical resistance.

Properties of a polyethylene PE sheet

Polyethylene, HPDE or PE sheets are reasonably priced. The low price is caused by the inexpensive raw materials that are required, and by the relatively low weight of the end product. Therefore, polyethylene is often implemented when large areas need to be covered by a lid or protective cover. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic material, that is easy to weld for most do-it-yourselvers. Gluing the material at home, on the other hand, is not recommended: this is generally only done by professionals. Polyethylene is a tough material that is difficult to break, and it is suitable for high point loads. Because the material is so affordable, polyethylene sheets are often used as filling material to align machine parts.
