HPL offers great advantages over other materials. The price of HPL is especially attractive. After 20 to 30 years of maintenance-free use, you will notice this in your wallet in a very positive way. The ease of installation of HPL is also a big advantage. In addition, HPL is a fire and flame-retardant material that you’ll never have to paint. Unlike plastic, wood or steel needs to be painted approximately every five years. An intensive job, both for you and your wallet.

A fascia board is a protective barrier for your roof. More specifically, it protects what lies beneath your roofing. Fascias prevent wind and other elements from getting under your roofing. Fascias are also known as eaves, wind springs or fascia boards.
Usually, fascias are made of wood. However, plastic fascias are a lot more appealing, because of their low maintenance. A wooden fascia board for example, needs to be painted about once every 5 years, and it is also prone to rot and damage. Plastic fascias never need to be painted, and are rot-free. The lifespan of our fascias is as much as 20 to 30 years. During these years, the fascias also stay looking like new, and you only need to clean them when they get dirty! This is why you usually only see plastic fascias on new-build houses.
HPL is the most suitable plastic material for use as a fascia board. Here are the most important features of HPL.
All in all, these properties make HPL the perfect candidate for use as a fascia board. From the durability to the ease of installation, and from the impact resistance to the rot-proof nature of the material. HPL is the ideal fascia board for your home! In the block below you will find more information about HPL. Here you can also see all the colours, and the thicknesses of HPL, plus much more!

The heat insulation value of HPL is about the same as wood. This value is of course already much better than that of an uninsulated external wall, but in itself it offers limited thermal insulation. We always recommend adding ventilation behind your HPL fascia boards. The insulating effect will therefore not come from the HPL boards, but from the insulation material attached to the external wall.
Fascias made of HPL have a fire rating of D-s2,d0. This is a European standard equivalent to the B2 classification in Germany. So HPL may smoke when burning, but no flame droplets will fall out, making it less likely for a fire to spread. A fascia board made of HPL does not melt, does not explode and has a relatively high ignition temperature. HPL has a European D classification and is therefore suitable for low-rise buildings. These are buildings where the highest floor is at a maximum height of 10 meters. Note that the roof may therefore be higher in these regulations.
HPL fascia boards are easy to install yourself. In this article you will find everything you need to know about replacing old fascia boards with new plastic ones. You will find general information and a step-by-step guide to get you started. The best ways to apply fascia boards are by sawing, screwing and drilling. On this page you will find everything you need to know about applying fascia boards.
Note! There must be a ventilated, continuous air cavity of at least 20 mm behind each fascia board. Otherwise condensation may develop, which could cause any woodwork to rot in the long term.
