Coloured acrylic sheets

Cut to size

Everything you need to know about coloured acrylic sheets

You can use coloured acrylic for many different applications, ranging from balcony glazing to kitchen rear walls. It is twice as light and 30 times as strong as ordinary glass. All our coloured acrylic sheets are cast. Our range of bright acrylic colours is available in 3 mm thickness and the brown and grey tones are also available in 5 mm and 8 mm.

Applications of coloured acrylic sheets

Our range of acrylic coloured sheets (green, red, blue, yellow, orange) is especially suitable for home decor and finishing. Consider, for example, table decoration, a lamp or a tablet holder. We supply acrylic sheets in neutral colours such as black, brown, grey or white in larger sheet thicknesses. This makes them suitable for heavy-duty applications such as balcony screens and boat or caravan windows.

Types of coloured acrylic sheet

We offer coloured acrylic in four variations: tinted, opal, 0% transparent (solid) and frosted (transparent, but opaque). The transparent sheets are ideal for applications such as shower walls and kitchen splashbacks walls. The opal coloured acrylic sheets are also suitable for this because they allow through up to 28% light.

Opal and tinted acrylic sheets are UV-resistant, do not discolour and are therefore often used for sun protection.

Tip: Opt for tinted acrylic sheet if you want to make a customised caravan or boat window or a door canopy. For plastic wall panels, a windshield or balcony glazing, the solid coloured sheets are recommended.

Working with coloured acrylic sheet

Coloured acrylic sheet, just like any other moulded acrylic sheets, is strong, durable and easy to work with. You can mill, engrave, drill, bend (hot), glue, saw and polish it.

Maintenance of coloured acrylic sheet

Cleaning and maintaining coloured acrylic sheet in a pristine condition requires a little more attention than cleaning traditional glass as acrylic is more scratch-sensitive.

Description

Our range of coloured acrylic sheets are suitable for many different applications, they are primarily used for decoration and finishing touches. The sheets are UV resistant, making them an ideal choice for outdoor applications. The colourful sheets are available in a thickness of 3 millimetres and have a maximum sheet size of 240 by 100 centimetres. For coloured acrylic this is the largest sheet size available in our online shop, but we can cut it to a smaller size. The vibrant coloured acrylic sheets are mostly implemented for decorative purposes. The neutral colours, on the other hand, are available in thicker sizes and, therefore, more suited for heavy duty applications like balcony glazing and boat windows. Like all other cast acrylic sheets, the coloured sheets are easy to work with. Read more about the practical coloured sheets and the characteristics at the bottom of this page.

Characteristics of coloured acrylic sheets

Plasticsheetsshop supplies several kinds of coloured sheeting: tintedopalcolouredmatt and mirrored. The tinted sheets are fully transparent and evenly coloured. They are often used for practical interior design, like shower panels and kitchen splashbacks. You can add some backlighting and create a very unique look. The white opal sheets can also be used for the same purposes and offer light transmission of up to 28%. Opal and tinted acrylic sheets also provide solar protection, which is why they are a popular choice for boat and caravan windows. The solid coloured acrylic sheets are opaque, and the frosted sheets are semi-translucent. The sheets are often used as windbreakers, privacy and balcony glazing. Mirrored acrylic sheets are perfect replacements for regular glass mirrors. Mirrored acrylic sheets are extruded and more prone to splinter or break, so be careful if you’re planning to work on this material.

Cast coloured acrylic sheets are a choice material for DIY projects. The sheets are 30 times more impact resistant than traditional glass but only half the weight of a glass pane of the same thickness. Acrylic is easy to work with using standard DIY tools and you can order any acrylic sheet cut to size. Don’t hesitate to contact our customer service for any further questions.
