Spatter protection for sink in caravan

Guido faced a frustrating issue in his caravan: water from the sink would constantly splash onto the bed. To tackle this, he created a practical splashback using opal acrylic glass, which is 8mm thick. The result? A sleek partition that not only keeps the water off the bed but also looks fantastic.
The project
Guido installed a clear partition on the worktop in his caravan. The acrylic panel ensures that splashes from the sink no longer make their way onto the bed. The panel was secured using a glass connection profile, along with additional glass holders to provide extra stability. It’s a straight forward yet effective solution to a common problem.
Step-by-step guide

Create a template
Start by accurately measuring your sink area. Use a piece of cardboard to create a template that reflects the correct shape. This will ensure a perfect fit for your partition.

Order acrylic
Order an opal acrylic panel, cut to size. Opt for a thickness of 8mm, and make sure to include an extra 1-2cm for the overhang. At PlasticSheetsShop, we offer fully customised acrylic sheets for a professional finish.

Smooth the edges
Sand the edges of the acrylic panel smoothly using 400-grit sandpaper. For the finishing touch, use a scraping tool to remove any sharp edges.

Install the connection profile
Drill holes for the screws and fix a chrome connection profile onto the worktop. For this, use 2x20mm white screws to keep the profile firmly in place.

Attach the panel
Slide the acrylic panel into the chrome profile and secure it further by adding glass holders for extra stability. Finish the installation with sanitary sealant and double-sided tape where needed.
