Our sheets are available in various colours and finishes. Will you go for (budget) clear, coloured, mirror, opal white, frost or tinted? Most of our sheets are cast, which means they are easy to process. Our budget sheets are however extruded, which means that they must be processed carefully, because of the already high stress on the sheet.
As you can read above, there are two types of acrylic. Cast and extruded acrylic. Extruded acrylic is a lot less easy to process, because it is rolled into the desired size after casting. As a result, there is a great deal of stress on the sheet and it cracks or shatters faster when processed with, for example, drilling or sawing.
Acrylic is at least 30 times stronger than regular glass and 2 times lighter. The material is also UV-resistant, and clear acrylic is 92% translucent. Acrylic melts at a temperature of 160° Celsius and has a class B1 fire rating. It is therefore suitable as glazing in public locations, but not as fire-resistant glass.
acrylic sheets are easy to maintain with a mild household cleaner and a soft microfibre cloth. Beware of abrasive cleaners like Cif, or sponges and brushes. These cause small scratches in the material, which can quickly dull the sheet.
