The Fixxerss HPL Super Fixx adhesive set is a complete set that will get you started straight away with bonding HPL cladding. You get two cartridges of 290ml each with fast, ultra-strong MS Polymer adhesive and one tin of Multi Primer Professional of 250ml. The adhesive is resistant to UV radiation and moisture, which means your bond will last for years. Even in harsh weather conditions your HPL sheets stay firmly in place. You use this set for bonding cladding, fascia boards, ceilings and dormers. The big advantage? You don’t have to hunt down the components yourself. Everything you need is in one set.

Processing options of the HPL Super Fixx adhesive set

The HPL Super Fixx adhesive set is designed so that you can work with it easily. Even if you are not very experienced. The cartridges fit in any standard caulking gun. You put on the Multi Primer Professional with a cloth, brush or roller. After a few minutes of drying time you can start bonding. The MS Polymer adhesive dispenses smoothly and you have plenty of time to position the sheets exactly right. The product doesn’t run and stays where you put it. Once the adhesive has cured, it stays flexible. That’s important, because HPL expands and contracts with temperature differences. The flexible adhesive absorbs that movement without putting any stress on the joint.

Step-by-step processing guide

Start by thoroughly cleaning all surfaces. Dirt, grease and dust must go. For stubborn grime, use Fixxerss IPA Bonding Cleaner or Plastic Cleaner Antistatic.
Then put on the Multi Primer Professional on the HPL sheet itself (so the non-porous surface). Let the primer flash off for at least five minutes. You can tell the primer is ready when a matte finish appears.
Put the cartridge in a caulking gun and apply the adhesive in beads or dots. On large sheets you work with beads at regular intervals. On smaller parts, dots are enough.
Process the adhesive within the open time and press the HPL sheet down firmly for good contact. Use temporary fixing or tape if the sheet needs a bit of extra support during curing.
Wait for the full curing time before you load the project. Remove any excess carefully before the adhesive hardens completely.

Processing tips

Process the adhesive between 5°C and 35°C. Dispense evenly to prevent air bubbles, because those can reduce the strength. Always use primer for facade mounting. Really, always. HPL has a smooth surface that doesn’t provide enough grip without primer.

If in doubt about the surface, always test on a small area first. Saves disappointment and wasted materials. Work with gloves and make sure there’s good ventilation, although MS Polymer adhesive is less aggressive than traditional adhesive types. Store opened cartridges well-sealed and dry. With the right cap they stay usable for several months.

Yes. For facade mounting you always put on Fixxerss Multi Primer Professional on the HPL sheet. This really isn't optional. HPL has a smooth surface that provides too little grip without primer. The primer forms a chemical bridge between the HPL and the adhesive. This gives you a much stronger bond. Never skip this step, especially not outdoors where weather influences play a role. Indoors too we strongly recommend primer, although the consequences of reduced adhesion are less quickly visible there.
With the two cartridges you apply around 13 metres of adhesive bead. That's 6.5 metres per cartridge. How many square metres that is depends on how you apply the adhesive and how thick. With beads at 30 centimetre intervals you get around 4 to 5 square metres per cartridge. So 8 to 10 square metres per set. The primer is good for 25 square metres, so you've got plenty there. For larger projects, order extra cartridges and possibly extra primer. Then you don't have to stop halfway.
The initial bond is there within a few hours. For full curing and maximum strength you wait 24 to 48 hours. That depends on temperature and humidity. Higher temperatures and more humidity speed up the process. MS Polymer adhesive needs moisture from the air to cure. Don't load the bond mechanically during this period. For facades this means: wait at least 48 hours before everything is fully weatherproof. Plan your work so that you have this time.
This set gives you ease of use and value for money. You get exactly the right amount of adhesive and primer that go together. That saves search time and you don't forget anything. The ratio between adhesive and primer is exactly right. You don't have too much or too little of one component left over. For small projects or specific situations you can of course also order separate products. Handy if you only need extra adhesive or only extra primer. For normal HPL facade projects this set offers the best value for money and the most convenience.
You process the Fixxerss HPL Super Fixx between 5°C and 35°C. Preferably between 15°C and 25°C. Then the adhesive flows best and the curing is most predictable. Make sure the adhesive, primer and the materials are at the right temperature. Materials that are too cold negatively affect the adhesion and considerably lengthen the curing time. If in doubt, let the products come to room temperature for a few hours. That's especially important if you've had your things lying in a cold shed or garage.
Seal opened cartridges immediately with the supplied cap. Or stick a screw in the opening if the cap is gone. Store the cartridges upright in a dry, cool space between 5°C and 25°C. Not in direct sunlight. Seal the primer well too and store it the same way. When stored correctly, opened cartridges stay good for several months, although the adhesive can dry out at the opening. Before reusing, always check whether the product still comes out of the cartridge smoothly. You can cut out the dried-out tip to get back to the liquid adhesive.
The Fixxerss HPL Super Fixx offers high strength and is suitable for structural bonding. But with load-bearing structures you always combine the adhesive with mechanical fixing. In accordance with the applicable building regulations and guidelines of the sheet manufacturer. The adhesive must never be the only fixing on structures that fall under building regulations. If in doubt, consult a structural engineer. The adhesive works as additional fixing and sealing. That considerably improves the strength and watertightness.
The adhesive is relatively kind to your skin compared with traditional adhesive types. Still, always work with gloves to prevent skin contact. If adhesive does get on your hands, remove it immediately with a cloth. Wash your hands with soap and water. Don't let the adhesive cure on your skin. Cured MS Polymer adhesive is hard to remove and can cause irritation. Don't use solvents on your skin. That's harmful and also not necessary. For stubborn residue, use hand cream to loosen the residue. Or wait a few days for the adhesive to come off by itself through skin renewal.
Yes, after full curing of 24 to 48 hours you can paint over the Fixxerss HPL Super Fixx with most paint systems. If in doubt, test first on a small piece to see whether the paint adheres well. Note: MS Polymer adhesive can form an oily film during curing that affects paint adhesion. So clean the surface thoroughly before you start painting. Outdoors, preferably use UV-resistant paint systems that can withstand the elements. The adhesive stays flexible, so also choose flexible paint to prevent cracks.
