Which material for a kitchen splashback do you choose?

There are several different types of plastic that you can use for a splashback in the kitchen. The most commonly used materials are Alupanel and acrylic sheet. But a material such as HPL can also be used as a kitchen splashback. Alupanel offers the most outstanding advantages here. This material lasts a long time, is easy to maintain and is resistant to scratches and damage. Acrylic also lasts a long time, is easy to maintain and is available in a wide range of colours and finishes. However, acrylic does scratch more easily than, for example, Alupanel and HPL. If the plastic splashback has to be placed close to a gas stove, we do not recommend this material because of the excessively high temperatures from a gas hob. With induction, no heat is released, as is the case with a gas stove. That is why acrylic can be used as a splashback behind an induction hob. HPL is also a strong material that is not easily damaged and is easy to maintain. The only difference is that this panel is heavier and slightly more difficult to machine yourself than Alupanel and acrylic. HPL is very hygienic due to its high molecular density but is perhaps not as aesthetically pleasing in a domestic kitchen.

First, measure the kitchen wall so that you can order your plastic sheets cut to measure in exactly the desired size. Keep a margin of 2 mm. Once you have received your order, remove the foil from the back of the panel, clean it with antistatic cleaner, and then apply the sealant adhesive. Apply this in dots every 15 centimetres at 2.5 cm from the edge. Then attach the panel to the kitchen wall and remove the foil from the front.
