Find out how Rico created a new fascia for his boat instruments in black acrylic.
The project
Rico: “I needed to create a fascia for a new set of boat instruments for my boat in the Mediterranean. After extensive research, I decided to use Plasticsheetsshop.co.uk to supply me with custom black GS Acrylic. I ordered pre-cut 6mm thick sheets with pre-drilled holes.
I designed the fascia on their website and was able to position all the holes to be drilled, allowing me to use a saw to accurately cut the holes needed to accommodate the new instruments. The new fascia was glued to the boat and the instruments inserted and screwed into place. The result is very professional.”
Tip
Rico: “When screwing into Acylic, it is very important to pre-drill a hole very accurately, as it can be quite brittle. If possible, try drilling holes and testing the screws on a spare piece of Acrylic.”
