Plastic trailer flooring

Are you planning to replace your trailer flooring? Polyethylene, also known as polyethene or HDPE, is ideal for this project. This type of plastic material is moisture resistant, very hard wearing and won’t break your budget! This blog explains everything you need to know.

The advantages of HDPE for trailer flooring boards

Thanks to its unique properties, HDPE is the most widely used plastic globally. These sheets are easy to process, recyclable. Polyethylene has a high molecular density, so it’s strong, rigid and wear-resistant.

What thickness of plastic sheet do I need for a waterproof trailer floor?

If you choose to cover your trailer floor with HDPE, selecting the right thickness is essential. We recommend ordering polyethylene sheets with a thickness of 15 mm. The sheets are available with a maximum size of 200 cm x 100 cm, and we’ll cut them to measure for you in any shape you require.

Attaching a plastic trailer floor

If you want to attach your HDPE trailer floor, it’s better not to glue it. Polyethylene is difficult to glue unless a specialist does it. We’re talking about large surfaces, so it’s best to secure the panels with screws. When attaching the sheet, allow for expansion. You can also seal your plastic flooring for a neat finish.
