Thije and his dad crafted a curved acrylic speedboat window using Perspex®. The original window was riddled with cracks, necessitating a replacement. Unable to find a ready-made curved window, they opted to create their own using acrylic ordered from our website. Thije revealed his flexibility and creativity, breathing new life into an old boat.
The Project
Thije said, “We ended up at Plasticsheetsshop. Your instructional videos convinced my dad that we could bend an acrylic window ourselves. After creating a mould, we bought the Perspex® sheet and got going.”
Thije and his dad made a mould and used hot BBQ coals alongside a metal sieve to bend the acrylic sheet, placing it onto the mould afterward. A few hours later, the bent window was ready for use. The result was impressive: the new acrylic window was the perfect replacement for the old, cracked one.

Thije’s tips for others
“Replacing a boat window was easier than expected. Be careful not to let the acrylic sheet get too hot during the bending. Leave the sheet in the mould long enough to prevent it from bending back.”
