Making a room divider doesn’t have to be complicated. In this super-quick and easy DIY, we’re going to show you how you can easily make a room divider using acrylic. You can write on it, stick post-its on it, and it comes in a wide range of colours, finishes and thicknesses. Whether you want a black plastic room divider or prefer to make a whiteboard room divider, the possibilities are endless.
Requirements for making a room divider
Step 1: Order the acrylic sheet for your room divider
To make your room divider, we recommend using acrylic sheet measuring 80 cm x 140 cm with a thickness of 8 mm. Which colour you choose depends on what you want it for. Are you going to use your homemade room divider just as a divider? Or do you want to create a whiteboard room divider, or even a transparent room divider for leaving messages on? Whatever your choice of colour, we saw all acrylic sheets to size for you free of charge.
Step 2: Assemble your room divider
Once you’ve purchased the acrylic sheet, you can get started. Remove the protective film from the acrylic and attach it to your room divider stand. Make sure you mount the panel flat, for example on a workbench. In this example, we’re using an aluminium stand with hexagonal sockets.
Step 3: Your plastic room divider is ready to use
Once you have attached the acrylic sheet to the stand, your homemade room divider is ready for use, for example, in your home office. It’s easy to make notes with chalk markers, and post-its also stick well to acrylic. Have you chosen gloss white acrylic? Then, of course, you can also write on it with whiteboard markers. Good to know: clean your DIY pvc room divider regularly with an anti-static cleaner. This prevents your room divider from attracting dust, and it stays beautiful for longer. You can easily wipe away notes made with chalk markers or whiteboard markers with a little anti-static cleaner on a microfibre cloth.
