How to make a DIY picture shelf with acrylic sheet

A photo shelf or picture shelf made from acrylic sheet transforms a plain, boring wall into a real design statement. Ideal for displaying green plants and your favourite photos or perhaps to hide an ugly spot or stain on the wall. In this DIY, we’re going to show you how to make your own DIY acrylic photo shelf.

1. Create a fluorescent photo shelf

There’s just one word to describe this fluorescent photo shelf made of fluor green 10 mm acrylic sheet – bold! A beautiful statement piece in the toilet, hall or home office. To make a fluorescent picture shelf, you’ll need:

• Acrylic sheet, fluorescent green, 10 mm thick (11 cm x 60 cm)
• Two shelf supports of your preference
• A drill

2. How to make a coloured photo shelf

If you want to take things a step further, you can opt to bend the acrylic sheet and make a photo shelf with a raised edge. In this example, we used a bending tool to create a red photo shelf with dimensions of 60 cm wide x 11 cm deep. To make a red picture shelf, you’ll need:

• Red tinted acrylic sheet, 3mm thick, 60 cm x 22 cm
• Drill
• Two screws
• Masking tape

3. Make a floating picture ledge shelf
