1) Determine the type of window

Start with a thorough investigation of your current window. Check if the window is mounted on tracks and whether spacers are used. Write down essential details like dimensions, thickness of the glass, and special shapes. This information is crucial for correctly ordering your new window.

2) Remove the old window

Before you start, loosen the spacers and store the screws safely to prevent losing them. Then, lift the old window upwards out of the tracks and, if necessary, carefully lift it out of the track with help. Be extra cautious with older caravans to avoid further damage.

3) Measure and order the new window

Measure the old window precisely. Don’t forget to leave an extra 3 mm room around for a good fit. Use the sheet calculator to enter precise dimensions and account for screw holes or notches if needed. Choose acrylic for clarity or polycarbonate for more sturdiness.

4) Check and replace the window rubber

Inspect the window rubber for cracks or ageing. If you need to replace it, measure the old profile and order exactly the same variant and length. Carefully press the new rubber into the groove and trim any excess material with a sharp knife for a tidy finish.

5) Fit the new window

Check that the new window fits neatly into the opening before you start fitting it. Leave the protective film partially on to prevent scratches; only remove the part that goes into the tracks. Carefully place the window into the tracks to avoid damage. Secure the spacers firmly and then fully remove the protective film. Finally, clean the window with an anti-static cleaner and cloth.

Tips and tricks

Consider polycarbonate for the best vibration resistance when travelling. Allow room for temperature fluctuations by ordering your window slightly smaller. It’s advisable to work with someone when lifting and fitting the window; it makes the task simpler and safer.
