A beautiful candle, miniature plant or any other nice object: present your favourite decorative items in a stylish wind light. We would like to tell you how you can easily make wind lights in acrylic sheet yourself so that you can display your belongings to their best advantage.

Requirements:

Square wind light

Transparent acrylic sheets with a thickness of three millimetres:

  • Two of 15.0 x 15.0 centimetres
  • Two of 15.6 x 15.0 centimetres

Acrylic sheets in the grey colour:

  • One of 15.0 x 15.0 centimetres
  • One of 16.6 x 16.6 centimetres

High wind light

Transparent acrylic sheets with a thickness of three millimetres:

  • Two of 15.0 x 24.0 centimetres
  • Two of 15.6 x 24.0 centimetres

Acrylic sheets in the grey colour:

  • One of 15.0 x 15.0 centimetres
  • One of 16.6 x 16.6 centimetres
glue the wind light

Step 1: make a bottom

Remove the foil from the two grey sheets and place the small sheet in the centre of the large one. Draw the shape of the small acrylic sheet. Then put your gloves on before glueing the two sheets together. Allow the adhesive to dry well.

Step 2: glue the narrower sides

Now it’s time to glue the sides of the wind light. Start with the transparent acrylic sheet with a width of 15 centimetres. First, apply glue to the edge of the smaller grey acrylic sheet. Then put the transparent sheet against the edge and hold it until the glue has dried.

Step 3: glue the wider sides

Then grab the sheet with a width of 15.6 centimetres. Apply glue to the edge of the smaller grey sheet and to the side of the sheet that you have already glued. Now apply the second sheet. Note that the two sheets are at a 90-degree angle to each other. Attach tape to both acrylic sheets so that the glue can dry.

Step 4: attach the remaining sheets

Now you can attach the two remaining transparent acrylic sheets, in the same way as in step three. Fix all glued parts together with tape and let it dry overnight.

After drying, your do-it-yourself wind light is ready to use and you can add a candle holder with a candle. You can, of course, also use the wind light as a display case by using it to display a plant or other decorative item. Check out our blog for more fun DIY ideas with acrylic sheet.
