Ruud has created a stunning waterfall made from acrylic and incorporated LED lighting for a spectacular effect in the dark.
The project
Ruud has built a 2.5-metre-long waterfall with a flow length of 2 metres. The waterfall is made of acrylic and features LED lighting in the collection tank, allowing you to see an impressive light show through the polished edges of the outflow side. He has meticulously screwed and glued the parts together using acrylic glue. When working with plastic, you need to be careful with pre-drilling and tapping, as it can easily overheat. Ruud shares: “It is necessary to drill and tap 3 to 4 times, and always keep it cool!” The top sheet is only screwed down, allowing access to the inside for repairs and algae removal.
Step-by-step guide to making your own

Ruud’s tips for others
“Know what you’re getting into. It seems simple, but precise measurement is absolutely essential so everything fits seamlessly and connects with all required joints. The waterfall is additionally reinforced with screws to achieve a strong construction needed for the water force. It’s a great project if you’re willing to make the time for it.”
