This sheet of hard polyethylene is 4 mm thick and black coloured, down to the core. This material is very suitable for applications with large surfaces, such as covers and tanks. This panel is lightweight and extremely strong. These properties are what makes this type of sheet so popular for mechanical engineering. It is easy to process, resistant to point loads and does not tear. Keep in mind that the panel can be scratched and the thickness can deviate by 10% on average. Polyethylene has high tensile strength and is resistant to elongation. The low melting point makes it good to mould, pour and recycle. Polyethylene can also easily be cut, bent, drilled and welded. However, we do not recommend glueing unless you specialise in this.
