Characteristics of Dibond® sheets
Aluminium Dibond® is a lightweight plastic and the sheet consist of three layers. The outer layers are made of 0.3 mm thick aluminium and the strong core is made of a black plastic called polythene. Because of the layers, aluminium composite is a tough, lightweight plastic that is also durable. A Dibond® sheet is UV resistant and weather proof, making it an ideal choice for exterior application.
The aluminium composite panels are available in white, colour and special finishes. Examples of special finishes are brushed aluminium and silver. The material is easy to work with, and are suited for drilling, sawing, gluing and milling. Cleaning the aluminium composite panels is effortless, all that is required is a mild cleaning product and a soft cloth. Due to its excellent qualities, Dibond® can be applied both indoors and outdoors. For example, it can be used as exterior wall cladding, advertising, billboards, stand construction, displays and interior design like stylish wall panelling and kitchen splashbacks.
The Dibond® sheets are covered by a protective film to prevent damaging during transport and handling. In the plastics industry, aluminium composite plastic is known under several names, such as Reynobond, Gutbond, Skybond and i-bond.
